January - February 2024 Short Story Competition Prompt:
Using the prompt below, create your own story!
Shivering, he wrapped his cloak more tightly around him. It’d been four…maybe five days? He couldn’t keep going on alone like this. He tried to steel his nerves. He couldn’t give up now; the mission he was on was too important. He could faintly recall how the king had looked him directly in the eyes as he sent him out. “Do you understand? This message must go through.” He pulled the note out one more time to read it’s contents…
Competition Rules:
Submissions must be content original to the author. Any form of plagiarism will disqualify an entry.
Submissions may not contain any vulgar, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate language.
Only submissions made between the start and cutoff date will be considered. Entries may not be made either late nor early.
Submissions must be between 500 and 1300 words in length to be considered.
Submissions must begin with the prompt itself, which does not count towards an entry’s word count.

In order to be considered, entrants must be subscribed to the Quips from the Quiver mailing list. Please be sure to make all submissions through an email address subscribed to the mailing list.
Submissions must be made between 1/1/24 - 2/16/24.
The winning submission will be posted here, and will include the entire submission alongside the name of the contestant!
Each contestant may only submit one entry to be considered for the award. Further submissions will not increase the chances of winning.
